There is pretty much no unlocking the map, all you do is cross the border and BAM! New area opened. You can seriously play a couple missions and fly right over to the end boss. This game offers nothing to work for unless you are just playing to get better guns. The open world is definitely open and probably a bit too big and open. The graphics are amazing, the map is beautiful. You will literally do the same thing over and over and over and over. Especially given my love for The Division. But understandably it's really hard snipe enemies if your draw distance is limited to 500m. Best part of Ghost recon wildlands is sniping for sure. But when you finish the game, there is not much else to do unless you start a new game. There is particular teammate AI who jokes a bit, but other than that we don't learn about each character and we don't feel attached despite the character customisations. There is some great voice acting, but the dialogue between your agent and your fellow agents is extremely limited and repetitive. Everyone just uses a helicopter to travel. main missions need to incorporate skydiving, driving or bike riding more to vary the mission style. Main missions do sort of get repetitive, but the it flows better because it adds an element of infiltration into more unique enemy bases. Con - Side missions are way way way too repetitve and grind-ish. There are lots of enemy bases scattered around the map.
A bit like Uncharted, but better I think. Biggest i've seen in any open world game. Good graphics for a open world game and the map is huge. However it's more fun playing with other real people to tackle missions. Your Teammate AI never misses! They are also better than human coop players. The SAMs are operated by AI because they are designed to fire at slow moving targets like the ones used extensively in the game and not fast moving military aircraft. These SAM Launchers are designed for firing automatically without human input. Their appearance is probably inspired by the SA-19 Grison (2K22 Tunghuska), albeit a fixed version, without the cannons and with an additional pair of launchers by each side.
The Launcher is fitted with a radar, so is probably active radar guided. They make an appearance in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint and can now be shut down without blowing the launcher up and alerting nearby hostiles. Santa Blanca sometimes have them in a few bases around Bolivia. They are usually present in UNIDAD bases, especially in Media Luna province. The Surface to Air Missile launcher shoots down any aircraft used by the Ghosts.
